Everyone Loves Free

Did you know there are a lot of businesses that offer discounts or freebies on Tax Day? (That's today, if you weren't aware of it.) Here is a small list of some of the options compliments of Lifehacker.

Like any other nationwide give-away by a corporate chain, there are two key points to consider: not every location of every chain is participating, and some locations will have huge lines at all the usual times—and may even run out of the free goods. If you pass by a certain store every day, it's probably worth checking in, but if you'd have to go out of your way, a quick call or check of the local news sites to see if they're participating is definitely worth your time. We've done our best to indicate below when a franchise has, in particular, noted that participation in a give-away is on a store by store basis.

Free Food

• Chick-Fil-A may be serving up free mini-biscuits from 6-10:30 a.m., but the corporate web site urges customer to call and check (or read the local news) to see if their local store is participating. [Locate]
• Cinnabon dishing out bite-sized cupcakes from 6-8 p.m.. [Locate]
• Maggie Moo's has free "ice cream pizza" samples from 3-7 p.m. at certain locations. [Locate]
• Starbucks offers free coffee if you bring a reusable mug. [Locate]
• Subway, in some areas, may be offering a free cookie or buy-one-get-one deal, according to some web sites, but it appears to be regional, so be sure to check. [Locate]
• Taco Del Mar serves up free tacos with a printed coupon. [Locate]
• Whole Foods offers tax-free shopping in Atlanta, parts of Tennessee, and possibly at other locations, where legal. [Locate]

Food Discounts and Promotions

• Boston Market is giving away one free plate with a plate purchase with a printed coupon. [Locate]
• Update: A referenced to a Dunkin Donuts promotion was removed, as it is in Las Vegas only.
• McCormick & Schmick's is giving out $10.40 gift certificates to every bar guest, along with $10.40 dinner and drink specials. [Locate]
