Here is my soapbox for the day.
From my experience, the best type of writing is collaborative and I consider it important. Personally, lots of things that I write are somewhat influenced by others’ ideas and viewpoints in regards to a project—I don’t profess to have all the ideas myself. Positive criticism can be beneficial and even encouraged—it is hard to improve as a writer when there is none to be had.
It is also hard to improve if ideas are not allowed to be considered. I know everyone has a different writing style, which is why collaborative writing can sometimes be hard, but it can be a very rewarding experience. However, never think that the best course of action is to entirely rewrite something due to personal preference. When that happens to me, I feel like my time could have been better spent elsewhere.
So to all you writers out there, don't be a jerky writer to your colleagues. Nobody should ever think that they are always right. That is why some companies never go anywhere.
