Today we're supposed to get our inscape proofs back from the press. Yes, they have been at the press for approximately two months. I am overjoyed that the press has found the time to finally get them done. The good news was that before I went to Hawaii we had to send them a new disk, so I got to fix all the errors that I'd previously found and send the updated copy on the new disk. So I'm hoping that we don't have much to correct on the new proofs. I think editorgirl and I looked over them about 40 times, in addition to students in inscape last semester, and the teacher (who wasn't supposed to), and editorgirl's favorite anal-poetry-corrector guy... I've killed a lot of trees printing out new copies each time. Additionally, it's a good thing CDs are cheap because I've given up too many now.
But even when inscape is finally printed, my involvement isn't over. Inscape is now a class, not just an elective item, and the instructor wants me to come and give a presentation on InDesign in case the students want to go and learn more about InDesign and page layout on their own time. Great. Let's admit here that I'm not an expert in InDesign. Most of the time I use the help option to figure out how to get the program to do what I want. But the file navigation is easy, and the program is way user-friendly, so I don't think it should be too hard. After all, he just wants basics on InDesign. I think I can do that. I'll probably create a handout or something. It's not until the 15th, so I have awhile to think about it.
I'd invite all of you in Provo to come, but I don't want you to come. Sorry. If you want to learn more about InDesign, I'll just teach you about it later.
