Certificate Programs

So, now that I'm almost done with my master's degree in technical writing, I've been thinking about getting a publishing certificate with a magazine emphasis. However, I don't know if certificates are credible or worth even pursuing. Does anyone know much about certificates? All I know is that I don't want a double MS degree--I'd like to be finished with school someday.
