I'm in a rhetorical theory class right now, and I'm having a great time treading in a sea of overly adept individuals who seem to understand rhetoric without having to think at all. The discussion comes naturally to them.
If I were in a real classroom with these people, I think I'd spend most of my time staring at them, wide-eyed, trying to figure out what the heck they are talking about.
But I pose a question. The class is about rhetoric. How can one word generate an entire semester of discussion? (That was more or less a rhetorical question.) Anyway, I'd like to know what your thoughts are--what does rhetoric mean to you? There is no right or wrong definition here; in fact, we spent a week posting definitions and arguing for or against them. Don't worry; I won't do that with your definition. I'm just curious.
