Welcome to the Real World

Today I am reminded what life is like for editors in the real world. You may receive submissions that need to be reorganized or completely rearranged. Or perhaps you have to perform some additional research to fill up space. Or maybe you have to do the research because the person who wrote the article was doing you a favor to begin with and they're also on a time crunch so you can't possibly tell them that their work isn't quite what you had in mind. Or maybe you have to meet with someone after every. single. edit. you. make.

These are the thankless jobs of an editor. And when the article is all done and over, it's still the writer who gets the credit. And that's how the industry is.

I'm glad I get to do both.
