Serif vs Sans Serif

BYU's student newspaper, The Daily Universe, has been posting in a lovely serif font for as long as I can remember. And they post the PDF online every day via Newsnet, the "parent company" for the DU.

But today my friend Brandon pointed out that the PDF hadn't been posted yet. He changed the date in yesterday's URL and found today's version--in a sans serif font. And it looks horrible.

Below are examples of the old font and the new font (top and bottom, respectively); it took me three tries to read the headline about Bronco because the leading is so tight.

I'm interested to see if they really meant to use this font from now on, or if today's unofficial PDF was just a mishap.

[Update: They reverted to the old font. Hooray.]
