Editing: My Spare Time Part-Time Job

So I never cease to amaze myself. Not that I don't have enough to do, but this morning I have managed to make a million photocopies of stuff, take notes in two meetings, run to the mailroom and get some stuff there, and now I am writing a blog.

But once upon a time I majored in English. What am I doing with it? Nothing! (I guess I should include my tech writing manual I'm writing for the Board. Woohoo.) But the whole schoolwork editing thing has thrown me for a loop, for suddenly I am the only person in the local vicinity who has the time to edit other people's schoolpapers. Personally, I am flattered to think that someone would put their trust in my abilities--not to mention putting their paper's grade in my hands. I could recommend nothing, or I could totally rip on the paper. I just did the latter with my sister's, and boy was it fun. I had to use highlighters to keep track of everything. No offense, dear sis, but 10-page papers aren't easy to keep all your information organized. Might I share my favorite misplaced modifier line?

Cezanne’s influence is seen most readily in Delaunay’s series on the ambulatory of the church of Saint-Severin executed from 1909-1910 in Paris.

I hope you could find the humor in that sentence.

Now I'm going to edit Fractile's paper and learn about networks and firewalls and DHCP, or something. Looks intense, man.
